It’s no secret that I love to bake. I am lucky that I have a well stocked kitchen but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some baking tools I want for my kitchen. I suspect there will always be fun things to buy for a kitchen, what do you think? I am sure I will be coming up with a similar list for cooking gadgets in the near future. After all, the holiday shopping season is not that far off.

10 Baking Tools I Want
Plant Based Food Dyes – I do not add food coloring to the things I bake unless I can find a natural colorant.
Dessert Rings for Making Layered Desserts – how much fun would this be. I would be able to have so much fun playing in a way I just can’t right now. I don’t have any ring molds at all and this set has several different shapes.
A New Bundt Pan – I love baking a bundt cake so a new bundt pan is always something I love to add to my kitchen. This blossom design is really lovely and I know it would make a beautiful cake.
For now I just have to stick with the pans I have, like this square design I used for this blueberry bundt cake.
Muffin Top Pan – I love to bake muffins and have long been intrigued by these muffin top pans because we all know that the top of the muffin is the best part. I’ve looked at them for years but never bought one. Have you?
Pie Bowl Set – what you ask? It’s the coolest pan where you bake little pies with an indentation in the center to add … whatever! Ice cream, custard, any filling you might want. How much fun could you have? Imagine peach pie with double vanilla ice cream. What a delightful celebration dessert.
Fancy Sprinkles – I don’t know if these are tools per se but they are things I like to have in my kitchen for decorating cakes, cookies and cupcakes.
A Donut Cutter – a truly silly thing since I easily cut donuts using two biscuit cutters currently but if a girl is wishing, why not, right?
Colorful Mixing Bowls – because they are pretty and you can never have too many bowls in a kitchen. Amirite? I have two sets now; a clear set of pyrex bowls and a graduated set of colorful bowls. But there are still times I could use more bowls!
Silicone Sphere Molds – once long ago I attempted a complicated recipe for German Chocolate Bombes. My big mistake was not reading the recipe through before starting. DO NOT DO THIS PEOPLE. As I got to the crucial point I discovered that I needed a silicone mold that I did not have. I improvised and they tasted good but they were not very pretty. You can find the recipe here but be kind as it was many years ago and I was just learning to blog recipes.
Bravetart – a new cookbook. ‘Cause I always love to get a new cookbook. This is one I have been wanting for a very long time so maybe it will show up under the tree this year. But in all truth I could probably list several dozen baking cookbooks here.
Baking Needs vs Baking Wants
Of course all of the things on this list are wants rather than needs. A list of baking needs is truly not very long and for me would include, in no particular order and I am sure I am forgetting some things:
- A stand mixer – I love my KitchenAids
- A rolling pin
- Baking sheets
- Good quality cake pans
- Pie pan
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Liquid measuring cups
You really don’t need a lot of fancy equipment to bake tasty treats. You just need to want to bake!
