I received a free Artesio Soft Touch Pepper Mill and Grinder from Ozeri for this review. All opinions are my own. I received no compensation for this post.
I believe in flavorful food. There is not point in cooking if you are not going to season – at least in my opinion. One of my favorite seasonings is black pepper. Fresh ground pepper – and now I have a new delivery system thanks to my new electric pepper mill from Ozeri.
I actually use a peppercorn blend. It’s got all manner of colored peppercorns in it and it produces a layered flavor in whatever I use it on. The mill can also be used for salt or other spices that you might want to grind fresh. I can see where having a few of these on hand with different whole spices would be a dream.
The grinder is light in weight. The top section holds 4 AA batteries. The section for the peppercorns or other spice is clear as you can see so it is very easy to determine when you need to refill. The grind button is VERY sensitive so you don’t have to press hard or long for the amount you need. The grinding blades are ceramic and are adjustable from fine to coarse. It retails on Amazon.com for $19.16. I must admit that I like the sleek and modern design but I with it were stainless instead of plastic – but that would push the price up, I’m sure.
What I REALLY like about it is it allows for one handed use. My former pepper grinder was manual and I needed both hands to make it work. With this pepper grinder I can be cooking and just grab it, hit the button and add the pepper to my meal while stirring and put it back down again without missing a beat. Very handy with something like a bechamel or other sauce you don’t want to stop stirring.
Hubby likes it too for when he making his breakfast in the morning on his diet days. He usually prepares one egg. He said that with this mill the pepper is evenly distributed over his egg in one simple press of a button.
He said before, with the old grinder it would go hither and yon. He is a happy dieter!
I may consider a second Artesio Soft Touch Electric Pepper Mill and Grinder for allspice – it’s something I use very frequently and I think being able to grind it fresh will elevate my dishes.
