Homemade bread is delicious and not that difficult to make. Patience and the desire to learn are all you need. I have rounded up and segregated my bread recipes so you can easily find any kind you might need from sweet breads to flat breads.
I am sure I missed some as I do a lot of baking and I didn’t add couronnes in here as I consider them more sweets than I do breads. Although the “star breads” did make it in and they are pretty much the same things so go figure.
I have put a list of some of my favorite cookbooks and the equipment I use most often at the bottom of the post.

Favorite Cookbooks and Kitchen Equipment Used in Baking Bread
I have been baking my own bread for more years than I care to count. There is just something magical in that mixture of flour, water, salt and yeast – and other add ins. I found that once I started baking my own that store bought never tasted the same again.
As for “cookbooks” I really rely on one – Secrets of a Jewish Baker. I have had my copy for close to 40 years and I swear by it. At least for yeast breads. When it comes to the sweet breads I can pull them from almost anywhere as I have a huge cookbook collection.
Equipment and Ingredients I Commonly Use
KitchenAid Mixer – as I have well documented, I am spoiled and I have three. One of each size. I often have two and sometimes all three going at once.
Chicago Metallic – I swear by their baking pans and sheets
King Arthur Flour – Bread/All Purpose
French Rolling Pin – I prefer this to the traditional American pin
I make my own vanilla using these vanilla beans. It takes a little time upfront but I think it’s worth it.
I am sure there are many other little things that go into my baker’s kitchen and someday I will put together a truly comprehensive post but this is good for now. If you have any questions, I will open this post up for them and I will be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.
