Woo hoo! I was getting off the farm. The hubby was taking me to an Amish store in St. Ignatious that we had heard of so I could explore and pick up what I needed to cook Thanksgiving dinner. This will be only the second turkey I’ve ever cooked in my life which I find very amusing given all of the dinner parties and family meals I have prepared. I always seemed to have had charge of Christmas and Easter. I’m getting a 10lb Hutterite turkey so it will be just right for the two of us and I’ll have the carcass to make make stock. Turkey stock is so very rich – I really like it better than chicken stock.
But back to my trip off the farm. It was a grey, cold, miserable day. It’s November. It’s Montana. It’s to be expected. So I dressed accordingly. I must admit the one thing I love about winter is fleece. Fleece is my friend. It’s soft. It’s warm. So I donned my new fleece pullover from Land’s End. I was able to purchase it on sale with a gift certificate. I love the berry color.
The vest is a piece I’ve had for a long time. I bought it in a small boutique back in New Jersey that I don’t think exists any longer. It’s felted wool over shearling and while it’s a little big on me I won’t give it up because it’s so warm. The jeans are my basic GAP boot cut jeans. They are really the only pair I have right now that fit but I’ve ordered a new pair. Yay!
I broke out the winter boots for this trip. I’m very pleased to have been able to find a new pair of BearPaw Tama Boots. I had gotten a pair to review but the cats fell in love with the little rabbit fur embellishments. They chewed the fur right off of them! I found another pair and bought them with a gift certificate. I’ve learned my lesson and now store them in the box. Crazy cats! These are so comfortable and warm.
You might also notice a slight change to my hair – did you note the curl? I’ll be reviewing a fun hair appliance later in the week. I only used it for a few minutes and it added some curl and body to my thin hair.
I was surprised and impressed. My hair has never been one to hold a curl. I didn’t have any product in it to help it along and yet the curl stayed all day long. The wind was blowing so this might not be the best showcase but you can see some of the effects.
All in all I had a very nice day with my husband. I’ll let you know tomorrow all about where we went and the fun stuff I bought for future baking. The firemen are going to have some yummy treats in the near future!
