It’s time for another Friday’s Hunt – the fun photohunt hosted by Teresa at Eden Hills. Each week she provides three prompts and anyone participating can choose to use 1,2 or all three. You can join in at anytime.

This week’s prompts are:

  1. Starts with Z
  2. Week’s Favorite
  3. Holiday

binoculars, Friday's Hunt

I’ve been having more and more trouble with my eyes. My double vision is getting worse and my distance vision is going to hell. One of my favorite things to do is to watch the birds down on the river and for that purpose we have binoculars handy. The pair we have are some image stabilizing Canons that we have had for probably 10 years. Lately they have just not worked for me so the hubby decided to give me a new pair for Christmas.  He took me shopping to try some different brands out – I had NO IDEA the binoculars could be so expensive – and we settled on a pair of Zeiss Binoculars. They are 10 x 56, not the I have the least clue except that the Canons we have are also 10x but they do not have as large a lens. The difference is in the quality of the glass – or so I am told – and what a difference it is.

Oh my! The ducks are so clear on the water and the hubby tells me I’m looking about 300 yards away. I still can’t look for very long as it really roils up my headache but at least I can see the birds and tell what kind of ducks are down there. Needless to say these make for one epic Christmas present.

Week’s Favorite

Christmas Tree

I promised you last week that I would provide a photo of this year’s Christmas tree. It has become a bit of an annual tradition for me to share my tree and a few of my favorite ornaments each year and I did that HERE if you’d like to learn a bit about me and my tree. You will note the tree is a little light in ornaments at the bottom and the lights seem a little askew – this is Snowy’s first year in the yurt and we just didn’t know what to expect from her so I didn’t put too many towards the bottom. As to the lights, well just as I took the photo she rushed out from under the tree and pulled them loose. She is a very entertaining cat.

Holiday

Thumbprint Cookies, classic cookies, classic cookie recipes, Christmas cookies, baking cookies

What is more holiday than Christmas cookies? I baked the hubby some Thumbprint Cookies the other day. Two different kinds were made; apricot jam with pistachio nuts and cherry jam with walnuts. It was a mix of several recipes and and the first time I had made them this way. I must admit that I was very pleased with how they came out. Chocolate chip cookies were also baked but they were nothing out of the ordinary.

I hope you liked this week’s photos and please be sure to head over to Eden Hills to check out the other blogs participating in Friday’s Hunt.

Christmas Day will bring a photo message as I’m going to take it easy this weekend. If you are heading out for the holiday I would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, and the best of whatever you celebrate in this season of sharing and love.
