I must admit that I do not love the onion. BUT I do love what a bit of onion can do to a soup or a stew so I asked the hubby to grow some. Last year he planted some onion sets and the haul was great; I had onions all winter long when I needed them. Shallots too.
This year he went a little crazy. He decided to try growing them from seed as well. THIS is the second harvest. The ones grown from seed
It is slightly SMALLER than the first harvest from the onion sets.
These are a mild, yellow onion that are supposed to be good for storing. There were a few more but that was before the chickens decided they made a tasty snack and stole some from the drying table and pecked them to pieces.
I don’t think I have to worry about having onions this winter.
Or possibly next.
