It’s just about a year since Famous SpokesGoat Pricilla went off to that big green field in the sky. I do miss her. She was a special little goat. When one has a pet that means a lot it’s nice to be able to have something more than a picture. That’s why I was so excited when I learned about Furever 3D. It’s a company that uses 3D printing to make a figurine of your pet. I was given the opportunity to do a Furever 3D review and I’m thrilled to show you how I ended up with a little replica of Pricilla.
How it Works
Let me first tell you about it works; it’s a really simple process but I’m going to make sure you learn from my mistakes. You can have a figurine made of a living pet or one that has passed. Obviously it is easier to get good photos of a pet that is still here. When you are requesting a Furever 3D of a passed pet you only have the photos already take to work with. This is where I was with Pricilla.
The artists need photos of your pet from each side, from behind, and closeups of their face; from each side and straight on. The photos need to be all in similar lighting as different lighting can effect fur color. It is also best if the photos are taken at the pet’s level. You can view an excellent explanation and video on the Furever 3D site.
What I Learned
I was so excited when I sent in my photos. I looked through my pictures of Pricilla and picked out some favorites and sent them in. I saw Pricilla’s smile, her cute little face and her personality. What I didn’t see was the varyied lighting, the bad angles and the failure to provide all of the requested poses. As I was reminded – it’s the first time the artists are seeing my pet. They have no idea what she (or he) looks like.
That shook the love right out of my viewpoint and I went back to my pictures with a much more objective eye. The second round of photos I sent was a far better grouping and able to give the artists what they needed to create.
They came back to me with the above pictures for my approval. As you can see it looks just like my Pricilla. I was thrilled. I asked that the figurine be made as an ornament so I could hang it if I wanted. You have the choice of that or a plain figurine.
How Did it Come Out?
Now I just had to wait for my little Pricilla to arrive. It wasn’t long before I had the UPS notice! It came very well packed and when I opened it up well, I haven’t stopped smiling.
How cute is it?
It’s got her markings, her little smile, even her fat little belly. I really couldn’t be more pleased. It feels like clay but according to the Furever 3D site it’s made from a “proprietary mixture of sandstone, gypsum and pixie dust.”
It feels substantial in the hand. The detail is really extraordinary – just look at her little hooves. If you can’t tell I’m really thrilled with my Furever 3D of Pricilla.
You can get your own 3D figurine of your pet – it can be any pet. The company has done birds, cats, dogs, horses and more. As long as you can give them the photos they need, they can make you a remembrance of your pet. Or just think what a wonderful gift this would make! A Furever 3D ornament like I received is currently on sale for $99. The standing figurine is on sale for the same price with base available for $25.
I know I will cherish my mini Pricilla forever. I smile every time I look at it. She meant so much to me and as I noted above I miss her furry little face around the farm. It’s so nice to have a company that can provide such a wonderful memorial piece. I thank you Furever 3D!
