I’m Ready for a Night on the Town

It’s funny sometimes how things happen. I hadn’t bought myself a new dress in a dog’s age and then I decided to go to BlogPaws in May. I knew I would need something for the closing banquet – the only dress I had in my closet that would come close was sleeveless and there was no way I would survive in an air conditioned room in a sleeveless dress. I would freeze.  I had been stalking Braintree Clothing for a while – in my dotage I find that their flirty, slightly hippy style appeals to me. I am also in love with their ethic;

We’ve been championing eco fibres since our humble beginnings in the mid 1990’s producing quality affordable garments, always produced ethically and with sustainability in mind.
Our ranges for women and men are made from sustainable fibres such as hemp, bamboo & organic cotton. These fabrics are good for the environment and great to wear!
Over the years we’ve worked passionately to innovate and create the best natural and organic fabrics available; expanding our range from a few t-shirts and beach pants to a full collection of wardrobe essentials.

I stole that from their site – I hope they don’t mind.
The company is located in London but my order came quickly with no problems.

I saw the Aphrodite Dress and was swooning. I just wasn’t sure I could carry it off.
I kept going back to it and back to it and back to it. Then it went on sale! AND I had a coupon from the Braintree Newsletter that gave me an additional 20% off – I figured it was meant to be.

And so it was.
I was very happy when it arrived. I really like the ruby color. It’s so very soft. It has enough drama to keep me happy and I know that I’ll be warm with the long sleeves. It’s not a heavy dress; the skirt is a very light organic cotton. I need a slip underneath to keep it from being indecent.

What I really love is the hemline; it’s adjustable. In a very clever way. You can either wear it as you see in the photos or you can untie it and wear it a bit longer and straight. You can see in the bottom/right photo the little ties; they go all around the bottom of the skirt. I just love the option but I also love the ruffle….

Right now I’m sporting my cowboy boots as it was quite chilly – and raining – when my hubby took these photos but I’ve got a pretty pair of sandals to wear with it when it warms up. I’ll show you them later. This will be a 3 – 4 season dress for me which is wonderful. I can put leggings under it for additional warmth and just push the sleeves up when it gets warmer.  I am just thrilled with my purchase.

It’s going to be wonderful for that closing banquet at BlogPaws and also for going out with my hubby for our anniversary celebration. I wrote earlier that he surprised me with tickets for Wicked – it’s playing in Spokane. We’ll have dinner and see the show.

I’m ready for my nights on the town!

The Aphrodite dress is still on sale at Braintree – it’s £29.90 which works out at current rates to $49.71. They offer a flat rate shipping for “everywhere else.” I can’t remember what it was but it wasn’t expensive.
If you sign up for their newsletter (bottom right) you get discount coupons – which is what got me an additional 20% off! They also post discounts and contests on their Facebook page.

They didn’t pay me or give me any more of a discount for this post. I bought my dress. I am just really happy with it and with the fact that they are eco-friendly.
