Yurtgress has pretty much ground to a halt around here but I’m hoping that will change with the hubby’s retirement at the end of this month. I’m not expecting anything immediately as he has his garden to get in but hopefully he will find time and I will actually get trim!
I’m not holding my breath though. This doesn’t mean that I can’t do little things to add a little touch of special to one room or another. I have been seeking a new set of sheets; I can’t tell you how many sets I went through that ripped at the seams because they weren’t deep enough for my Tempur-Pedic mattress.
I finally found one set that I really liked but they were quite expensive. I was going to save up to get another set of them but then I was given the opportunity to review a set of 500 Thread Count Egyptian Cotton Deep Pocket Sheets. I figured what the heck, they couldn’t be any worse than the ones I’ve had to toss and at best I’ll have a new set of sheets that I love.
I’m pleased to report that I’ve had the sheets for about a month now and I’m really very happy with them. I had no control over the color of the set sent to me so I was going to be surprised. As best I can tell from the site the sheets I received are red but I’d call them more of a burnt orange. I have to admit that if I saw them in the store I would have walked right by them but that would have been a mistake. Now that I have them on my bed I love the color! They go well with my quilt and the color is really rich.
I’ve washed them three times already and the color remains as deep as when they arrived. The last two times they dried outside on the line in the sun. They have not shrunk at all and I have washed them in hot water.
You can see that there is plenty of give at the corner. The mattress is 15″ and despite other sets of sheets claiming that they would fit deep mattresses it did not turn out to be true. These deep pocket sheets fit over the mattress without any problems. They have a lovely crisp feel to them that I suspect will soften over time much like my other set of cotton sheets. (I admit to liking the feel of crisp sheets.) They are not thin – in fact they feel the same as the expensive set I have in my linen closet. These retail for $49.95 at Amazon and are eligible for Prime if you are a member.
