Since we moved into our new house in Vermont we have been working bit by bit to turn it into the house we want to be. It’s been a little over a year now and a big step was taken today to make us feel a bit more like our normal selves in our house. Our bookshelves arrived.
What is that you ask? The furniture we ordered shortly after we bought the house was finally delivered! I can hardly believe it myself and I am sure that the store where we bought it is beyond thrilled to have it out of storage.
When we closed on the house we knew we were going to need a place to house all of our books. We have a LOT of books. Both of us are readers and I swear that half of the moving truck was filled with boxes of books. I do not think they will all fit on the bookshelves we ordered but I will do my best. (You can see just some of the shelves in the yurt in this picture)
We also ordered an entertainment center for the stereo – yes, we are old. We were going to hang the TV on the wall over this but since my eyesight has gone all to heck we will now just find a piece of art to fill the space. I watch TV on my computer when the mood suits. It works well and I can see it.
In addition we also got a desk for the office area and an armoire for coats, jackets, hats, gloves, etc. It was all from the same store where we bought the bedroom furniture – Emerson’s Furniture in Brattleboro.
The bookshelves are made from black cherry and their simplicity is what makes them so beautiful. They are beautifully constructed. I cannot wait to start filling them up.
We have both missed having books around. He will surely get a workout bringing all of those boxes up from the basement and I will stack them all on the shelves. And then maybe, just maybe I will have an actual living room for the first time since we moved in. Stay tuned to my instagram page as I will post photos there with progress.
What a concept.
