I have been somewhat lucky lately and have actually won some new clothing in blog giveaways! Woo hoo for me! I don’t enter a lot of giveaways any more as I just don’t have a lot of spare time but when I see something I would really like to have I expend the effort. I was quite taken by the Knot Your Mother’s Dress from Monroe and Main so when the delightful Fashionista Bloggers showcased it I entered like a woman possessed.
And now thanks to my entries at Still Blonde After All These Years I possess the dress! My hardest decision was what color to pick. Well not really – of course I went for the pink! You all know how much I love pink. I think it makes up half of my wardrobe.
One of the entry questions asked how would I style the dress. I answered that I would – at least until it warmed up – wear it with my denim jacket and cowboy boots. My cowboy boots get a real workout around here. They are the only winter shoes I have besides my snow boots! They are very comfortable and I have had them so long I can’t even remember who made them. They have been resoled twice! The jacket is Calvin Klein and also ancient. It’s also a little big on me now but it’s the only one I have so I keep it around. I should probably look for one that fits me a little better. Of course I was photobombed by a cat. Actually two – I can’t do anything without a cat showing it’s furry little face.
I love how soft the dress is. It feels very silky and it can be smooshed into a ball and it doesn’t wrinkle. That is so wonderful for traveling. The just below the knee length is perfect for me – I really don’t like my knees. We all have our bugaboos and for me it’s my knees.
|Yes, that is Sherpa’s tail so I guess I was photobombed by three cats.|
I love, love, love the color! It’s a bold, bright hot pink that just fits into my wardrobe perfectly. I am not generally a big fan of sleeveless dresses but it’s easy enough to wear a jacket or shirt over this dress, not to mention a shawl to help keep me warm. As I have mentioned before I am cold even when the temperatures start to rise.
I wore a necklace of my own design. The main stones are raw rubies with polished rubies, tanzanite, Oregon sunstone and Australian boulder opals falling below in a sparkly jumble. I was really having a hard time keeping it together while the hubby took these photos because the cats were just everywhere. Pumpkin was meowing like a crazed beast, Harry was rubbing against my legs and Sherpa was running like he had a wild hair!
Such is the joy of outside photo shoots on the first really nice day in a long, long time. I had fun, the cats had fun and I know the goats were having fun. The sun will do that when you haven’t seen it in months.
I’m thrilled to have this dress in my wardrobe. I know I’ll be wearing it this summer as the temperatures heat up. I have a delightful pair of sandals to wear with it. They are gold and will pair perfectly. The dress is for sale at Monroe and Main for between $70 – $80 depending on the size ordered. You can visit the Blogger Spotlight to see how the Fashionistas wore the dress in all of its beautiful colors.
