Rumor has it there is a big football game being played in the near future. Any time there is a big sporting event that makes a great excuse for a party! I love entertaining and thanks to shopping at Walmart I have some fun and easy football party ideas for you so you can spend your Game Time in front of the television instead of in the kitchen. All of these treats and snacks can be quickly prepared ahead or in the slow cooker so you can be ready for your guests. The first uses a Stouffer’s Party Lasagna – and you don’t even have to turn on your oven!
1 Party Size Stouffer’s Lasagna with Meat and Sauce
4 cups beef stock or soup (low salt)
2 cups tomato juice
Parmesan cheese for grating
Let the lasagna thaw and cut it into small squares.
Set your slow cooker to high and add the beef stock or soup and tomato juice. Add in the pieces of lasagna and stir well. Let cook until hot. Serve with a grating of Parmesan cheese and some Italian bread.
Could that be ANY easier? It is very delicious and a great way to use leftover lasagna. With the soup in the slow cooker your guests can serve themselves when they are hungry and you don’t have to fuss. I don’t know about you but I love soup and bread for dinner. Especially a hearty soup like this one; it has noodles, cheese and meat and it sure left the two of us satisfied.
As you all know by now I bake for the firemen on a twice monthly basis and I decided this past week to send them in a treat to suit the Big Game excitement. I made them Game Day Ice Cream Sandwiches! These were very easy to make and can be made ahead of time and stored in the freezer. I’m sure all of your party guests, both young and old would love these as much as the firemen did! I used a cookie that I make quite often but there is no reason that these treats could not be made with slice and bake cookies. Just be sure to flatten the dough into the ovalish shape so that they come out looking like footballs. I used some limited edition Dreyer’s Ice Cream flavors to fill my treats for the firemen.
Game Day Ice Cream Sandwiches
PRINT RECIPE for COOKIE DOUGH
1 cup plus 2 TBS unsweetened cocoa powder – USE GOOD COCOA, it makes all the difference in the world
1 2/3 cups granulated sugar
2/3 tsp salt
3/8 tsp baking powder
1 cup and 5 TBS softened unsalted butter
4 1/2 TBS whole milk (I used goat’s milk)
1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
These are a really delicious chocolate wafer cookie.
Fast, tasty and easy is the way to go for any kind of Big Game get together. Hot Pockets are another yummy choice for munching while watching the teams duke it out.
A Nestle’s Crunch Dipped Drumstick with caramel inside. Could it get any better? I think not. They come in an eight pack with plain and chocolate filled confections. I refuse to comment on what happened to the other 7 Drumsticks…..
I’m sure you want one now too, don’t you. You have that delicious looking ice cream cone staring you in the face. Well, you can have the drumstick and all of the tasty snacks I have written about and you can get them in one convenient place – Walmart!
So go ahead, write your list just like I did and head out to do some shopping ahead of party time. You want to make sure you have everything you need for a fun and delicious football party. Make it easy too – why spend all day in the kitchen when you can be enjoying the game and most importantly those commercials! We all know that they are the most entertaining part of the Big Game.
