In our ongoing efforts to fix up our little fixer upper we purchased two new light fixtures from wayfair.com. One ceiling light, one table lamp. I will note that as much as I love the ceiling light the installation was a nightmare. The language that came out of my husband’s mouth is like none I have ever heard before.
And we have been married for 40 years.
He said the entire issue would have been solved with longer screws. Erm.
So after much frustration he hied himself off to the hardware store, purchased the needed screws and the light is now installed. But the manufacturer, in trying to save a few cents now has a very frustrated customer who is going to leave a negative review.
Although I suppose they really don’t care because I looked and we will not be the first ones complaining about this issue. I honestly did not look at individual reviews, I only looked at the overall rating and it was still fine.
The problem with reviews right there. It shows how you can get erm, screwed.
But, I am happy with the thing so there is that. It suits both the time period and the nature of this little house.
The table lamp we ordered at the same time was much easier to put together. I will admit that the lamp shade amused me to no end. It wasn’t the traditional kind; it rolled up! When it was time to install it you placed it around the frame and velcro-ed it together.
Aaaah, mail order lighting at its best. The times, they say, are a’changing. But I am not sure they are changing for the better.
Now it’s back to painting the walls, then the floor. I am looking at curtains and maybe, just maybe this room will be done.
But not until we are able to move the bookshelves in. Yes, the bookshelves we ordered a year ago right after we bought the house. All of our books are still in boxes in the basement. Lots of boxes.
Time flies, right?
