I received a free dress from Shabby Apple for my honest review. I received no monetary compensation for this post.
I have to admit that I don’t get dressed up as often as I used to. There was a time in my life where I put on a suit or dress every day for work. I had a glorious wardrobe! Now it’s mostly sweatpants, ripped t-shirts and anything the goats can’t damage too badly. That doesn’t mean that now and again I don’t like to get my girly on – for I do and when I do I have to admit to a love for vintage clothing – perhaps it’s the classic lines, perhaps it’s the memories of watching those old black and white movies with my father. Who knows – but you cannot dispute the beauty of clothes from eras gone by. Shabby Apple is a company that specializes in producing clothing with that vintage feel yet it fits the modern woman’s lifestyle perfectly. I had a very hard time deciding what dress to pick! I had it narrowed down to two and then went back and got myself all confuzzled again because there are so many beautiful designs. I finally chose a lovely dress called the Snapdragon because the beautiful print called to me.
It’s ostensibly a summer dress but I can think of ways to make this beauty go almost three seasons. I managed to snag the hubby today to take some photos – he’s sometimes hard to pull away from all of his projects. As you can see I paired it with my cowboy boots and it looks adorable. At least I think so. I can easily put a pullover on top and it will look like a sweater and skirt. My jeans jacket will look great with it. If somehusband had not been so “BUSY” I would have done just that.
It will look great with a pair of sandals in the heat of summer. The print is me – I love color and while this is a bit muted compared to my usual palette it is full of pink, blue, green, purple and peach. I really love it.
There had been comments in the on site reviews about the sleeves being overly tight but I did not find this to be the case. As you can see, I do not have the thinnest of arms and yet the sleeves fit just fine. There are four buttons at the front and a zipper on the side so the dress is easy to take on and off. It’s made from a lightweight cotton that is a delight to wear.
It’s a flattering style for someone like me who is not well endowed in the bust but blessed (?!) with hips. The natural waistline is not tight and the skirt is just full enough to float over the hips without making them appear larger. The length is just covering the knee which I love because I have a thing about my knees; I don’t like dresses that fall above the knee. There is a shirt collar that you can’t see because of my hair.
I am just thrilled with my Snapdragon dress! Unfortunately this dress is no longer available but there are plenty of other beautiful vintage inspired dresses for you to drool over at Shabby Apple!
