I was very pleased to be offered the chance to read The Wedding Shop by Rachel Hauck. I enjoyed another book by the author so I knew I would be in for a good story. I thank the publisher for sending me a copy at no charge for my honest review.

My Opinion:
This is a very sweet tale about love and loss, life and death and the happiest day in a woman’s life. The story moves back and forth in time (I will admit I’m getting a bit tired of this in novels.) as we learn of the lives of the two women important in the history of the wedding shop in Heart’s Bend, Tennessee. Cora Scott inherits the shop from her aunt and turns it into a going concern and even keeps it profitable during the Depression. She dresses brides as they find love but she herself is blind to what is in front of her.
Haley Morgan and her best friend played as young girls in the abandoned wedding shop and when she comes home after a bad break up she decides that opening the wedding shop is what she needs to do. She’s finished with her career in in the Air Force and she needs something to do – why not resurrect her old dream? But she will need a lot of help. Perhaps Cole, her old childhood friend who is now a contractor can help her rebuild the shop and her heart.
The Wedding Shop is part of a trilogy yet it easily stands alone. It’s a quick, easy read that doesn’t tax the reader. The story is like a bowl of ice cream – light, sweet with perhaps a few nuts tossed in – you know just what you are getting and are happy to have it. It was a nice breather book from all of the deeper, heavier reads I have on my schedule.
