It was very exciting when we decided to settle down in beautiful Western Montana. After 10 years of living in a fifthwheel and mostly following the sun and warmer temperatures, I now found myself living full time in snow country. My wardrobe was going to need some bulking up to say the least. It was time to start shopping for things like down jackets and women’s snowpants. I had a winter coat, but it wasn’t a heavy coat. I didn’t have boots, I barely had any sweaters! We were on a fixed income so it was important to find quality items at good prices.

How Does Sierra Trading Post Work?

Sierra Trading Post came to my rescue – I found an awesome pair of snowboots for a price that fit my budget perfectly.  Those boots I bought in 2006 are still going strong. Sierra Trading Post has been in business for over thirty years and the hubby and I have been shopping with them for decades. (Through the years the hubby has gotten a lot of his hiking gear there – but that is a story for another time. ) They have closeouts and deals on brands you know like Columbia, Marker, The North Face and Marmot and they can give you great prices by picking up items that are irregular, overstock, closeouts or have tiny blemishes. And check this out – 98% of orders ship within 1 business day. That is some kind of service.

Snowpants? Who Needs Snowpants?

Our first winter here was a snowy one. In fact, that November we had a big dump of 18″ of snow.  Fortunately the hubby was used to northern climes from having lived in Vermont for 10 years and he knew exactly what I needed to keep me warm and dry on snowy days. Before the cold set in he bought me a pair of women’s snowpants. I will be the first to admit that I knew nothing about them having never needed snowpants before; I will remind you that I am (was?) a city girl.  When he bought mine (basic black) they didn’t have cool colors like these stunning turquoise Columbia Sportswear snowpants or you know I would have been all over them.

I am not a skier despite the hubby’s attempt to teach me with our honeymoon at ski school (don’t ask.) But for those of you who are just imagine how stylin’ you’d be on the slopes with these snowpants.  If nothing else you’d be easy to find…

It gets mighty chilly here in the winter and I know Montana is not the only state that experiences that – hello Minnesota! Sometimes snowpants are more than the sum of their name. They are generally waterproof, always insulated and easy to move in because their common use is skiing. I have worn my snowpants out walking in the woods in the cold, cold, cold of winter and they keep me warm and dry. Now, I don’t wear them unless we are talking about temps down into the teens but when I’ve worn them I’ve been thankful to have done so. When I’m out in the forest I prefer the pair I have that are like overalls. Yes, I am spoiled – I have two pairs of snowpants. With prices like what you find at Sierra Trading Post it is easy to have a full and complete winter wardrobe!

You Can’t Stop Winter

Winter is nipping at us again; we are waking up to frost in the mornings now. Soon I’ll look out my windows and see a beautiful, snow covered world. I think I might just check out some of the women’s winter jackets at Sierra Trading Post. After all, the one I have is over 10 years old now and I have lost close to 30 pounds since I bought that coat. I deserve a new one that fits correctly, don’t I? Not to mention I probably need a new pair of snowpants. Ha!

Winter 2006

That way I’ll be fully prepared when I go out to build my next snowman.  Or for whatever the season may bring.
