Our Yellowstone National Park vacation to celebrate our 35th anniversary was wonderful. It is hopefully, one of many short trips the hubby and I will take this year now that we don’t have to worry about being back in time to barn up the goats. The next one is just a short overnight trip to Helena later this month and we are definitely planning a getaway to Glacier National Park this summer. There are some other day trips in the works as well and you can be sure I will share all of the beauty and fun we find along the way.
Yellowstone is a place of awesome vistas. You almost don’t know where to look because there is just so much to see. In the winter you can only get in with a guide – whether you chose to in by snowcoach or snowmobile Yellowstone Vacations has you covered. They hosted our trip into the park and it was a wonderful excursion. (read about our Yellowstone Snowcoach Tour.)
It was our third trip down to the West Yellowstone area so I was on the lookout for something new to try and I found it with an awesome adventure – dogsledding! Neither one of us had ever gone on a dog sled so it made for a lot of fun. (read about our Yellowstone Dog Sled Adventures excursion.)
Wildlife Adventures
The ride too and from West Yellowstone was beautiful as well. On the way down we saw a huge herd of big horn sheep; I just didn’t get the camera out quickly enough to get a photo. There must have been two dozen of them
On the way home it was antelope. I know it isn’t the greatest photo but we were moving along at about 70mph and the animals were pretty far out in the field. But trust me, they are antelope. We saw quite a few of them driving along but none of them were close to the road.
The only disappointment in the trip at all was the food. We have yet to find a good place to eat in West Yellowstone. It’s not from lack of trying. All I can say is maybe next time…
