It seems like forever since I’ve posted a yurtgress post but there is actually a bit to write about! It took a bit of time and the sale of the truck and trailer but we finally had the money to put the deck on the yurt. We didn’t want to do it until we could pay for it so wait we would.
It’s not done yet but at least the main part was up for this weekend so we could sit and enjoy a bit of nice weather. We bought this lot for the view of the river and now we’ll be able to enjoy that view outside in the summer. Of course we are never alone….
When it is done there will be a railing so this unimpeded view will go away. We are trying to work out a railing system that do the job without getting in the way. I’m sure the hubby will come up with something brilliant in the end. The kit came with the pieces you see on the ground in the photo but we are going to change the rails – at least on the end of the deck – so we can see the river to its best advantage. Montana has very few rules when it comes to building.
We have ordered a table and chairs to go on the deck. The table’s pretty cool; it folds down at center so we can keep it halved until we have company. That way it won’t take up a lot of room on the deck. The chairs are nicely padded so we can also use them as “sittin’ and readin'” chairs so they can serve double purposes.
Right now I just have our fold-up chairs from the trailer so we can have something on which to sit. The view down river is just as pretty. The big mound of dirt is from when they dug the hole for the basement.
We’ll get a grill too – probably at the end of the summer when they go on sale. No point in buying one at the height of season. It’s not like my life will end without one. It will be nice to have though – I love to barbecue!
Sherpa has done an excellent job of making sure the contractor is doing a good job of building the deck. He has inspected from day one.
Harry is no slouch either….
I’ll write again when it’s complete. The yurt is looking more finished now and that makes me really happy.
We are also having the bookshelves built under the counter in the living/dining area. So far the man building them has measured but they are being build off site. They will be cherry and will match my kitchen cabinets. Fun times in the yurt for sure!
