I was sent a starter kit from AlterreNY that included a pair of slides and two sets of straps. All opinions about Alterre shoes are my own.
There was a time in my life where I had quite the shoe collection. I LOVED heels. But my life changed dramatically and I was no longer able to work and my need for beautiful, glorious shoes was no more. That did not stop my lusting over all of the beautiful footwear out there – I just had no cause to buy them. But then I started going to blog conferences and every now and then I had an instance where my cowboy boots were not the ideal thing to wear. I didn’t have the need for a full shoe wardrobe like I did when I was working but I needed a good, basic dress shoe.
Alterre Shoes – Comfortable and Stylish Convertible Shoes
This is why I was so thrilled when Alterre sent me their starter kit to review. In the kit they sent me I received a pair of grey mules and two different straps; a grey Jackie look and an evening sky Marilyn look. I will explain how it all works as I go on.
When I first heard about these shoes I was fascinated. You start with a base called a lift. The lift is available in a variety of styles from a sandal to a platform to a stiletto and even a loafer. Colors include black suede, evening sky (navy), malbec (red), black suede and more. Not all colors are available in all lifts.
You then develop your wardrobe of looks for your lift. These are available in five designs; Jackie, Marilyn, Tilda, Elsie, Bianca, Erykah, Lozen, Elizabeth, Grace, Nancy and Tamoe. Like the lifts, not all looks are available in all colors but there are so many wonderful combinations! They are easy to put on and change. You can see just how easy below – excuse my messy table!
Alterre Shoes – One Shoe, Many Looks
Alterre sent me the mules and two looks and I’ve subsequently bought two more lifts and several more looks. I was impressed with this shoe from the moment I put it on. It’s a comfortable height at 2 1/2″ and the shoes wear like a dream. The leather is high quality.
The shoe has a timeless design that will remain a classic for years to come. The shoe dresses up or down with the look as you can see above from left to right; the Tilda gives it a very casual look if you ask me, the ankle wrapping Marilyn is a very sexy look, the Jackie is a classic “Mary Jane” strap and the Elsie is a more modern look.
What you can’t see in the collage and not even really well in this photo is how beautiful the pattern is on my Elsie strap. It’s called Stingray and it has a delightful sparkle to it.
The soft grey of my lift is a perfect neutral to wear with just about anything. The Starter Kit with the mule or sandal and two looks is $206. You are, in effect, getting three pairs of shoes for that price. Additional straps range in price from $45 to $85. All shoes are made with fair labor and with each order a donation is made to help stop human trafficking. If you sign up for the newsletter you are alerted to sales which I can tell you are often really good!
I’m very happy with my shoes and excited that I have so many different looks in one shoe box. I can wear them with jeans, dresses and skirts. I’ll be styling with my footwear for a long time to come. Thank you Alterre for spiffing up my shoe wardrobe.
