The Farm cats want to remind all of you that it’s National Adopt a Cat Month. There are far too many kitties living in shelters rather than in loving homes. Sherpa is especially sensitive to this issue as he is the only Shelter cat in the clowder. They have the life and they know it. In fact it’s gotten even cushier around the yurt for the cats thanks to the nice people from Petmate®. They sent the Farm cats some of the new items at no charge from the Jackson Galaxy line. The Farm cats are sharing their opinions.
Adopt a Litter Box?
I chose the items for the cats but little did I know that one of the items I picked would alter their lives so completely. There were a number of fun new products coming from Jackson Galaxy but the one that I thought the group needed the most - a new litter box! OK, I know litter boxes are not the most exciting thing on the face of the earth but if you have cats that go to the bathroom inside you need a good litter box. This is a good one; it’s the Giant Litter Box and it has high sides and it’s deep.
Life Changing Cat Bed
I saw the Comfy Clamshell Cat Bed and thought it might go over well with my little herd. Little did I know. I will admit that I made a small mistake at first. This item can either lay flat or you can make it into a cuppy bed. I did that first.
Stinky hopped into that way but she was about the only one. They didn’t seem to like it when it enclosed them. But once I opened it up - oh my!
It.Is.Never.Empty!
I am surprised that there hasn’t been blood drawn over who gets to sleep in it.
There is plenty of room for more than one cat.
But as of yet it has only been one at a time.
The only time it is empty is when they are all out of the yurt. I would say that this bed has made the Farm cats very happy indeed. It is very soft. I almost wish I had one that was Patty sized. I’d curl up on it. I can understand the allure.

It’s attractive for making biscuits as well. I often catch them in a state of bliss, kneading away. So I thank you Jackson Galaxy for making my cats so happy. There are many more items in the Jackson Galaxy line from Petmate including the cat toy you see with Harry in the Instagram video above. It’s called a Marinater Sliding Fish. It’s made to sit in a “vault” to soak up catnip scents to drive cats crazy. I don’t have the vault so I just put it in a zip bag.
The cats have been tossing it around. I think they like it because it’s made of natural materials, it’s light and it’s easy for them to throw around the yurt. If they are happy, I am happy.
Celebrating National Adopt a Cat Month
There are a number of ways you can celebrate National Adopt a Cat Month. The number one way would be adopt a shelter cat! But if you can’t do that go visit your local shelter and play with the cats. I do that now and then with the kitties at AniMeals and they love it. Especially the older kitties. If you can’t visit, send a donation of cash or food. That is always appreciated.
