This post is brought to you by PranaPets. I was sent CBD Oil for Cats and I was compensated, but all opinions expressed are my own.
I have to admit right up front that I really didn’t know anything about CBD Oil for cats when I first saw the PranaPets website. What is CBD Oil? Well, that was my first question too:
- CBD or Cannabidiol is a natural compound produced by the Cannabis or hemp plant. CBD possesses amazing healing properties due to its action on the endocannabinoid system, which is present throughout the body in all animals. When the endocannabinoid system is functioning optimally, the body is better able to preserve homeostasis or balance for enhanced health and wellness.*
I wanted to try this with Sherpa the Farm cat because he is a bit of a nervous Nelly and he has a sensitive tummy.
Sherpa’s Tummy Troubles
I was able to have a chat back and forth with the very nice people at PranaPets and they gave me recommendations for dosages for Sherpa (ALWAYS check with your vet before trying anything new for your pet.) Sherpa has had a troubling tummy for a long while and it took me about a year to find food he could eat and keep down. Obviously he is a long haired cat and this leads to hairballs so I also feed all of the cats a kibble that helps with them. Since I’ve done this Sherpa now only throws up when he is stressed.
CBD Oil for Cats
There have been two new Farm cats added in the last 6 months. Let’s just note that Sherpa hasn’t been exactly thrilled with either Snowy or Fernando joining the clowder. It took him some time to adjust to Snowy and just as he calmed around her Fernando showed up! It’s been a little harder with Fernando since he’s another male cat and he is a roamer. He’s here for a week, he’s gone for a week so there are constant re-introductions.
When I read that the CBD Oil for Cats could help with anxiety I thought that it might be good for Sherpa with his issues with dealing with Fernando. I figured at the least it couldn’t hurt.
How Did it Work?
I can’t really note; in the time I have been giving Sherpa the CBD Oil for Cats Fernando has been on a roam. I’ve been giving it to him for just short of a week and he hasn’t thrown up in that time. I’m very happy about that. He has been exceptionally affectionate which is unusual for Sherpa. He has his times when he wants to sit on my lap and be pet but he’s been all over me that last week. I will be truly interested to see how he does when Fernando gets back.
