Things to Do in New York City
Have you been to New York City? It is a busy, vibrant, exciting place to visit. There are many things I miss since moving to Montana and New York is pretty high on the list. The hubby and I used to go up to the city pretty regularly when we lived in New Jersey. In fact, New York was where he took me on our first date so you can imagine the special place in my heart the city holds.
He took me in to see a play and then down to Chinatown for dinner and we walked up to Little Italy for dessert. That is the beauty of visiting – there are so many things to do in New York city! If you have never been, don’t worry. There is a company that can help you see the best of New York whether you have half a day or a week to spend exploring.
TopView Sightseeing
It has been 15 long years since I have been in New York and that makes me sad. I am sure it has changed a lot in that time. Truth be told, I never visited the city as a tourist. I think it would be awesome to go back and pretend I’ve never been there before and see the sights through new eyes. The best way to do that I believe would be to take a tour like one of those offered by TopView Sightseeing.
The company offers a wide variety of tours in the different parts of the city. There is also the Liberty Cruise which boats you past the Statue of Liberty and offers beautiful views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the New York City skyline.
Hmmm. there are so many things to do in New York City! What to choose first? It all depends, of course, on how much time you have to spend. If it were me and I had no knowledge of New York I think I would want to start with the Downtown Tour and Liberty Cruise. Should I be lucky enough to be in the city for an extended period of time I would take advantage of the All City Pass which is available in 2, 3 or 5 day increments. New York has so much to offer which is why it is a big tourist destination.
Iconic New York Sights
Some buildings are so tied to their location that they define a city. I believe that can be said for the Empire State Building. There are other must see things to do in New York City, which sadly now include the 9/11 Memorial. Wouldst that it never had to have been built – it would be a much better world I think.
Another classic is St. Patrick’s Cathedral. I have to tell you, the first time I saw this stunning building it was a bit of a shock to the senses. A neo gothic church in the midst of modern skyscrapers. Talk about worlds colliding! No matter your belief system the Cathedral is a sight to see.
TopView Sightseeing will take you to these sights and more with experienced storytellers on board to share the history with anecdotes about each place you visit. You will learn about the history of New York which really is the history of us all.
