I love this time of year.
It’s such a joy to be able to bring a smile to someone’s face by presenting a gift that you know is just perfect for them. In addition to family and friends I also remember the people who provide great service to us throughout the year like the woman who delivers our paper, the man who picks up our trash and especially our mail ladies. We live in an area with rural delivery; what that means is that these ladies are contractors. They use their own cars when they deliver the mail and the routes out here in mountain country can be … interesting. But no matter the weather conditions the mail is here every day.
For their holiday gift I like to give them a little something more than just money in a card. I like to put together a pretty bag with some of Pricilla’s soap, some jam I canned and a little something special that catches my fancy. This year what caught my fancy was American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand Fragrance Beads.
They are part of the American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand fragrance collection available at Walmart. I found them in two places in my Walmart; there was a smaller display near the front of the store and the shelf pictured above was in the housewares section. The fragrance beads are a product I had never seen before. They are pretty cool – they give off their fragrance for up to 30 days and are perfect for smaller spaces. I picked up some Fresh Apple to put in my bathroom; they smell just like well, fresh apples! I like them because I don’t use candles as often as I used to with the four cats in the house. With the fragrance beads I can have any room smelling like Fresh Apple or Lavender or Sunny Sands without worrying about curious cats and flame. I love that this wonderful gift of fragrance is less than $3.50.
On my shopping trip I also picked up some other American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand products. There are several different size candles from votives to 19oz jars. If you have a tart burner you can also find wax cubes. There are so many enticing choices; I was drawn to Fresh Apple, Buttercream Frosting and Sage and Red Berry. None of the candles will set you back a fortune – the most you will pay is just under $15! The larger candles I purchased already have homes but the smaller ones are going to be my “save me” gifts.
I’m sure you all know what I’m talking about – you get invited somewhere and you need to bring a gift and you have nothing on hand and no time to get to the store. Or someone gives you a gift and you have nothing on hand to reciprocate. This is a big issue here in the boonies where any real shopping is so far away. I like to have some things stored away for emergency gifting. The 4 oz. tumbler candles are a perfect solution. I can put them in a clear cello bag and tie them with some cheerful raffia and I’m good to go. I have a perfect gift for under $5.
American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand candles make wonderful gifts and delightful home accessories but I do want to share some important tips with you:
- Be sure to read the instructions for the product you have bought – and follow them!
- Keep your wicks cut to 1/8″ so your flame doesn’t get too large.
- To get the best fragrance possible from your candle every time you light it, burn it long enough for there to be a pool of wax across the entire top surface.
- Place your candle on a heat resistant surface, away from drafts.
- NEVER leave your candle unattended. ESPECIALLY if you have cats. Ah-hem
- When there is only 1/2″ of wax left it is time to buy a new American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to receive a gift bag and reach in and find a fragrant American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand product? I know it would make me happy. I love fragrance in my home – my favorites tend to be fruity as you can probably tell by my obsession with the Fresh Apple products in this post. I know that anyone I give one of these candles too will enjoy it as much as I would – and why not? I’ve never met anyone who didn’t enjoy a beautiful fragrance wafting through their home. I suppose that is why I liking giving candles as gifts as much as I do!
