There is one thing I know living here on our little farm – comfortable footwear is very important. The hubby and I took a short trip recently to to further explore Montana. We had long heard of the beauty of the Beartooth Highway so we made some reservations and hopped in the car. I knew I’d be doing some walking as the research we did indicated there were plenty of opportunities for short walks to see various overlooks and other features.
Muck Boots sent me two different pairs of boots and I brought both with me not knowing exactly what kind of weather we would encounter. We would be ascending to just short of 11,000 ft (3,337m) where it was bound to be cooler than at the elevation where we started. Also, it had snowed up there the weekend before we went. I started in the Muckster II Mid Boot. It’s a super comfortable boot that gives you a lot of grip whether you are walking on wet or dry ground. I can also tell you that it works well on pebblely surfaces as I walked on quite a few.
Comfortable in Warm to Cool Temperatures
I wore the boots from home where the temps were in the 70ies and in the car and they were easy to wear and my feet never felt hot or sweaty. In all truth I felt like I was walking on bouncy clouds.
The boots come in a variety of colors but I fell for the bright pink. They match my raincoat and if you ask me the burst of color adds a dash of joy to your day when you put them on. I received quite a few compliments on the boots as we walked about the stops on the highway.
What About Colder Weather?
There is nothing to worry about! Muck Boots has just what you need there too. The Arctic Weekend Winter Boot is comfort rated from -20 °F to 50 °F (-30 °C to 10 °C) so that covers quite a range.
These boots rise slightly higher and there is a fleece lining. I love fleece. The soles are just as grippy and the boots are equally as comfortable for walking. As the day was proving to be warmer than predicted I decided I didn’t need the additional warmth so I ended up wearing the Muckster Boot up the mountain.
I chose the beautiful purple for this style as my winter coat is lavender and these will work beautifully as snow boots around the farm in the cold weather. They will be great for taking care of the ducks and chickens when the temps drop and I’ve got cold running water all over. Not to mention looking stylish when we go to Missoula in the snow. Talk about versatile!
