Ceremonial Matcha Tea Starts a Morning Off Right

I’ve written before of the hubby’s love of Matcha tea. In fact I wrote a post on the difference between ceremonial and culinary grade matcha teas. He has a cup of tea every morning. I have to admit I’m still a coffee drinker. He does prefer the ceremonial grade matcha so he was very happy when I was sent a tin from Zendori to review at a heavily discounted price.

The first thing we both noticed when it arrived from Amazon - it is Prime eligible - was how beautifully packaged it was. The box is made from recycled paper which we both really appreciated. The tin inside, as you can see in the photo, contains 1 oz of tea and it is currently on sale for $26.99. I don’t know how long this price will be in effect.

When you open the box you find the tin and as you can see it is as beautifully decorated as the outer packaging. You can also see that the bottom of the box has some interesting folds.

It opens up to to give different Zendori tea facts. How cool is that? I can tell you that it folds very easily back into a box. I know this because I folded it and unfolded it several times.

When you open the tin you find the beautiful matcha tea powder. As you can see it is a beautiful spring green color. Zendori offers the following about their matcha:

  • ★ WHY ZENDORI CEREMONIAL MATCHA IS SUPERIOR - NATURALLY SWEET, FRESH & INVITING AROMA We stand by the quality of our matcha, therefore we make sure the green tea leaves we use come from the best soils of Japan-Nishio and Kyōto regions of Japan. These regions have the ideal environment to produce matcha with superior quality. When the first harvest time comes, our Japanese tea leaf pickers would handpick the youngest and thinnest tea leaves from the top of the plants, which are the ones that get the most amount of nutrients and have the most amount of umami. Immediately after picking, the fresh tea leaves are steamed and air-dried to stop further fermentation to preserve the vibrant green color of the tea leaves, following by the de-stemmed and de-veined process. One of the most important steps in producing high quality matcha is THE GRINDING PROCESS. Our tea leaves are traditionally ground between handcrafted granite wheels made by one of the few remaining stone carvers in Japan. They are ground to micron size, so fine that Zendori matcha can penetrate through your finger prints. The fine matcha powder is sealed in an airtight aluminum tin or pouch to preserve its natural freshness, color and aroma for you to really experience zen. With its packaging, it is also very good as a gift!

I can tell you that the hubby was very happy with the quality of the tea made with Zendori. He said it was very fresh tasting and that it had a very bright flavor. He said it was not bitter and that he enjoyed it very much. I would consider purchasing it for him again as a gift. The ceremonial is too expensive for him to drink every day - he uses the culinary grade - but once in a while I treat him to the ceremonial. He does like it better.
